Job Description

We are looking for a Development & Property Accountant to join our Property Operations Finance team based in the Hague, Netherlands.


 Within this role you will be supporting the finance manager to analyse financial information, reconcile financial statements, prepare general and standard journal entries, assist in budget development, and prepare standard accounting and financial reports for management.

  • Compiles and analyses financial information in preparation for entry into various financial statements and accounting reports.
  • Reconciles all balance sheet accounts to control accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Makes appropriate journal entries for recording in the general ledger by checking calculations, and reviewing the basis for figures.
  • Reviews budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents and researches and resolves discrepancies as necessary.
  • Performs bank reconciliations and initiates payments to suppliers.
  • Maintains and coordinates accounting control procedures by analysing revenue and expenditure trends.
  • Acts as liaison with external auditors by explaining journal entries and financial transactions, providing research data and information as requested, and answering questions necessary to complete the audit in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with on-site and other property managers to assist in completing pre-close and close activities, answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time client and Company reporting.


As our ideal candidate you’ll possess strong communication skills with the ability to interpret and explain complex financial data to different audiences; and highly organised to be able to meet multiple competing deadlines. You’ll also be self-starter with a proactive and positive can do approach to your work.

  • Degree/Masters qualified (HBO or WO) or equivalent experience
  • Accounting foundation background with a thorough understanding of accounting procedures and double entry book-keeping
  • Understanding of budgets and financial statements
  • Knowledge of GAAP
  • Knowledge of Dutch VAT
